CODEX Foundation Symposium 2007




The CODEX Foundation exists to preserve and promote the art and craft of the book. Our mission is educational and, in the broadest possible context, to bring to public recognition the artisanship and the rich history of the book.

In 2008 the CODEX Foundation will publish book/art/object, the comprehensive documentation of the CODEX 2007 events. The 394 page volume will include an introduction by the editor, David Jury (author/editor of a number of highly regarded books on the subject of the book arts), a foreword by Peter Rutledge Koch (CODEX Foundation director, printer, and publisher), the Symposium proceedings (keynote lectures), selected reports from around the world on the “State of the Art,” and 128 pages of full color illustrations of books exhibited at the 2007 Codex book fair.

Save-the-date! CODEX 2009: February 8, 9, 10 & 11, 2009

The CODEX Book Fair & Symposium is happening again!

February 8-11, 2009

We have reserved the same spaces we had in 2007 on the UC Berkeley campus and are in planning already! Book Fair : ASUC Pauley Ballroom. Symposium : University of California, Berkeley Art Museum theater. CODEX Symposium 2009: CONSIDERING THE BOOK AS A WORK OF ART

Registration will open in early June, 2008.
